Czechia, Bohemian Forest, year 1799, April.

Fantl, an old Jewish peddler, is on a trading journey with his son Levi. Deep inside the woods, struggling with the harshness of the surrounding nature, Fantl encounters a local deserter Josef Wurm who attacks him and his son with the intention of ripping them of their fabrics and money. It is Levi who survives this cruel assault and who, out of rage, decides to do everything in his power to carry out a righteous revenge.
